Rooney - Defeat A Reality Check

3 October 2012

ADAM Rooney says that Town have been given a reality check after their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Colchester United on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the official website after the match, the striker expressed his disappointment at the result.

He said: “It’s very disappointing especially considering the run we’ve been on. After the draw at Carlisle we’ve been on a winning run ever since so we’re disappointed.

“We were coming in confident but it’s a reality check. We have to get back to the basics now and go and try and get three points in the next game.

“It was just a poor performance tonight. We weren’t anywhere near where we have been over the last couple of weeks so it’s disappointing but it’s just a blip and we have to move on. We have to make sure we’re over it, focus on working hard in training and put things right on Saturday.”

The Irishman also looked ahead to Saturday’s match at Bury and declared that Town would have to work hard to get back to winning ways.

“That’s the good thing about this league,” he said. “You tend to have games every few days which gives you the chance, if you do have a bad game like we did tonight, we have a chance to put that right on Saturday. We have to make sure we’re all on it, we all work hard for each other and get back on a winning run.”
