Rooney joined League Two side Burton Albion on loan at the end of September and has featured in three games for the Brewers since then.
An injury ruled him out of the game against former club Gillingham last weekend before he returned to the bench for last night’s home draw with Port Vale. Burton are at home to Bradford City on Saturday.
Rooney has now made over 100 senior appearances in a career which began with the Gills and he has also spent loan spells with Lewes and Eastbourne Borough.
He will be eligible for Town’s Capital One Cup fourth round tie with Aston Villa on Tuesday 30th October and he came off the bench in the first round win over Brighton & Hove Albion in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
