Di Canio - We Can Smile

25 September 2012

TOWN manager Paolo Di Canio spoke to the media after watching his side knock Burnley out of the Capital One Cup

On the win…
We are happy with the performance. That was the most important thing because we went through and it wasn’t an accident. We made many chances but today we can smile. We conceded late on but went on the attack straight away. In a game like this you never know what the reaction will be, but they did so well. We reduced the chances for them but we did a lot of work on how they play. After the game I said ‘well done’ to the players. We must still believe in the hard work and there will be lots of smiles at the end of this year.

On the frontline…
They did very well, as did the whole side. My football is expensive in terms of energy. Andy Williams and Paul Benson ran and ran in every moment. The tiredness is only in the brain. You can run for 50, 60 minutes but they keep going. We are very fit because the players worked so hard.

On reaching round four…
From my point of view I would sign now to play away at Chelsea or Manchester United away. I am not mad if I say I would like to play there. It may be a chance in a million to get a result there, but why not try? That would be an amazing moment for this club. A top club away from home, or away, would be a fantastic moment for everybody at Swindon and the the fans.
