Di Canio - We Cannot Switch Off

19 September 2012

TOWN boss Paolo Di Canio spoke to the media after his side's 2-1 win over Portsmouth:

On the win...

I am not happy. We have come to a difficult place and won the game but we have not won the Champion's League. In the last ten minutes we did not defend well and we switched off. Six or seven of my players were completely blurry but they were the minutes that could have put us in trouble.

On Williams’goal…

I was very pleased for him. He has always given his best and scored a goal in the first half which was disallowed. Credit has to go completely to him. He didn’t score for my support, I left him over the last few days and said ‘it depends on you’. He scored a fanastic goal and now he can be free in the brain. I think that is the first of many for him.

On Thompson’s performance…

I was very pleased with him and he looked more than secure. He had his chance and took it very well. He was solid and performed very well.

On the display…

We cannot switch off in games and we have to grow up and work to analyse the last ten minutes. We have to work for 97 minutes not just the 90.
