Rooney - Off The Mark

17 September 2012

ADAM Rooney struck his first Town goal in the 2-2 draw at Carlisle United and can’t wait for his next bout of League One action tomorrow evening.

The Birmingham City loanee struck his first goal of the campaign at Brunton Park and was pleased to have played his part in the game which he admits could have yielded more for the Robins.

He said: “It was great to get my first goal for Swindon but it was unfortunate it didn’t result in the three points we wanted. I haven’t been with the club long so it’s going to give me a bit more confidence now having got off the mark.

“It was a busy first half an hour and the goal they scored early on was unfortunate. The lads showed real determination to get back into it and ‘Benno’ finished well for his goal too.”

Rooney is expected to be a part of the squad travelling to face Portsmouth this evening and he is looking forward to another taste of League One action.

“It’s another game we want to do well in. The lads here have real hunger and desire and we want to win every game. That won’t change on Tuesday. Portsmouth have a lot of new players and they will get better as time goes on, but we’re looking to go there and get the win.”
