Rooney ready for Brewers spell

28 September 2012

TOWN winger Luke Rooney is looking forward to making an impact in League Two after joining Burton Albion on a one–month loan deal until 27th October 2012.

The Bermondsey-born 21-year old has made four appearances for the Robins this term but has found his path now blocked by the form of summer signing Gary Roberts.

Speaking after sealing the temporary move, Rooney offered his views on the switch.

He said: “As a footballer you want to play regularly and I’m no different. All I want to do is play first team football.

“I had a season in League Two last year and know all about it. Burton have had a great start and hopefully I can go there and help them continue that.”

Rooney could face his former club Gillingham in October in Burton colours, alongside a familiar face in the Brewers’ camp.

“I know Chris Palmer at Burton who I was at Gillingham with and he’s a great lad.

“The Gillingham game has caught the eye already. They’ve had a good start too under a new manager and were unlucky to not succeed last year.”
