Rooney Sets His Goals

3 September 2012

Striker Adam Rooney is looking forward to getting his Town career up and running after penning a season-long loan deal with the Robins.

Rooney arrives at The County Ground with an impressive strike rate of 61 goals in 177 league appearances and is available to feature in Wednesday’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round meeting with Oxford United.

Speaking shortly after signing for Town to STFC Player, the club’s official online TV service, he offered his views on the season ahead.

He said: “The lads have all been very welcoming and I just want to get out there and play as much as I can this season. Swindon have done really well over the past year or so and hopefully I can come in and add to that success.

“It’s a season long loan deal here and I am looking forward to getting as many minutes out on the pitch for Swindon and as many goals as I can. I have scored plenty of goals wherever I have been. That includes spells with Birmingham, Stoke and my time in Scotland. I will work hard and give everything I have got; one of my best attributes is my work-rate.”

He added: “I do have targets in terms of goals but I usually keep those to myself. The main thing for me is to work hard and do well for the team.”
