NATHAN Thompson stepped into the breach against Portsmouth and impressed in Town’s 2-1 victory.
The defender has progressed through the STFC Academy and made his first appearance for the club in October and nearly two years later, he was handed a starting slot at right-back by Paolo Di Canio.
Speaking to STFC Player after the game, he was delighted to have played his part in the encounter.
He said: “It was a great result for the boys and we’re really pleased with the win. We switched off a little late on but it was a good three points and we’re back to winning ways.
“I had an inkling that I would start and it was great to get out there and play my part. Hopefully I have put myself in contention for Saturday and I really enjoyed being out there again.
“I played a bit at Stoke and have waited patiently for my opportunity.”
