IT has been quite a week for Nathan Thompson. The defender impressed at Portsmouth on Tuesday night before keeping his place in an unchanged Town line-up against AFC Bournemouth.
The youngster didn’t disappoint and made quite an impact against the Cherries with another robust display at right-back.
Unflustered, the 21-year old spoke to the media after making what was only his tenth Town appearance this season.
“I’m over the moon, absolutely chuffed to bits,” he enthused. “It’s been a long time coming to get into the side and hopefully I can keep my place. Hopefully I can continue into Tuesday if I am given another opportunity.
“It was a really good win for the team and the lads were fantastic. Like any player when you’re winning your tackles and headers your confidence improves. I felt I grew into the game.”
Thompson believes home form will be key to success once again this season with championship side Burnley next up at SN1.
“This place was a fortress last year and today we’ve bounced back well after the Orient game. Now we can look to Tuesday night and try and put in a big performance against Burnley.”
