Under-18s Go Top

29 September 2012

SWINDON Town's Under-18s were 4-1 winner at Cheltenham Town on Saturday morning.

Paul Bodin was able to include Louis Thompson in his starting line-up and the midfielder made the perfect start to the game, finishing well after a determined run.

Wales Under-19 international Aaron Oakley doubled the advantage soon after with a headed goal from a Luke Murden cross, before Mark Francis made it 3-0 from 20-yards. Francis grabbed his second of the game from the penalty spot on 71 minutes after Connor Waldon had been fouled inside the box.

Bodin offered his views on the encounter after the game: "We made a great start to the game and Louis did very well for his goal.

"Cheltenham started the second half very well and came at us, but we played well in the first half to make it 3-0. Cheltenham's goal was a consolation effort with a penalty late on, but it was a comfortable win.

"We now go into the cup for the next five weeks in good spirits."
