Williams - Put It Right At Carlisle

10 September 2012

STRIKER Andy Williams says that Town need to put their recent performances to bed by putting on a good show at Carlisle United next weekend.

Speaking to Swindontownfc.co.uk after Saturday’s defeat to Leyton Orient, the summer signing expressed his disappointment at the result but knows there is much more to come from the Robins.

“Saturday was very disappointing as in midweek,” he said. “I don’t think we really did enough in the game, we were a bit disappointing on the ball and off it. The lads weren’t at the races and that’s two or three games in a row now the lads haven’t done what we know we can do.

“After the good start we had we need to regroup, have a little think, everyone has to have a good look at themselves and hopefully put it right for Saturday up at Carlisle.”

The trip to Cumbria comes after the first fixture-free week of the season so far and Williams believes that Brunton Park is the ideal place for Town to turn their form around.

“It’s big,” he said. “Obviously it’s early on in the season so you’re never going to say anything is make or break but we need to put it right now and Carlisle away is the first and best place to do it.”

Williams assessed his own performance on Saturday after Town’s unbeaten home record was finally ended.

He said: “I see it as a disappointment especially as the lads who worked so hard for it last season and as a new lad coming in you want to maintain that.

“I played a big part in us not getting anything from today and I’ll hold my hand up and say I was miles below where I should be. I need to go back to training, work hard and just put it right.”
