Holland Tour Diary: Day Ten

4 April 2013

JEREMY Newton continues his tour diary from the Academy tour of Holland

Next up for the Town Under 13s, 14s and 15s were FC Gravenzande.

The 14s ran out 3-1 winner in their encounter. After falling behind on 18 minutes, strikes from Scott Twine and Jordan Morris before the break and one from Tom Ouldridge in the second half sealed the win.  There was also some vital game time for Seb Martinez, Callum Gunner and Jabari Hylton.

In the other two matches, the 13s were held to a 2-2 draw whilst the 15s were beaten 1-0.  Despite the result, a special mention must go to both Jack Stanley and Aiden Compton who both played up an age-group in the 15s.

We pressed the opposition and played with two up front plus one of the wide men up high when they had the ball at the back. We forced them to go long which worked really well as they gave the ball away a lot in the final third and we won a lot of headers at the back.

Tomorrow there will be a combined 13s/14s team and a combined 14/15s team with only two fixtures taking place. With no 14s fixture tomorrow I can proudly state that as interim coach I’m unbeaten in Europe!
