KM: A great effort

16 April 2013

On the victory…

I was very pleased with the performance and it was the required response. We played well and created a lot of chances. We started the game very well and took our chances. I must also say thank you to our fans who were superb all game and got right behind the lads all game.

On the goals…

Adam Rooney did well and he got us off to a fantastic start. Massimo Luongo got his goal and he had a solid game. It was good to see James Collins come on and get one in the second half too.

On team changes…

We made a couple of changes to the side and Alan McCormack came into the midfield to strengthen things up with Alan Navarro out injured. The team got the result tonight but I always believe that any side we put out can win the game.

On injuries…

Simon Ferry has a tight hamstring and had to come off, but hopefully it’s more of a precaution. Luke Rooney also has a problem with his shoulder but at this stage so soon after the game we are not sure how bad it is. We have to deal with what we have and we put Mark Francis on at the end as well. If we have any more injuries then we are happy to put youngsters on the bench.

On the play-offs…

The fate has always been in our own hands although it’s a shame that the automatic has gone by the wayside. If we win the game on Saturday then the play-off place is secured and that’s the priority. We will take our chances against any side, because as we have seen any team can beat another.
