KM: A mad five minutes

27 April 2013

TOWN manager Kevin MacDonald spoke to the media after defeat at Scunthorpe.

ON THE DEFEAT
Very disappointed that we lost. I felt for 90 minutes we were the better side, we were in control and just had a mad five minutes. Maybe we lost our concentration (after the delay) but in the end it's a poor defeat because our play warranted a better result than that. We had enough experience to run the clock down and we played some decent football but well done to Scunthorpe the way they approached the last ten minutes. Defence starts from the front - we got a bit untidy and we need to do better.

ON THE PENALTY
It's hard to say whether it was inside or outside (the box). The referee made the decision but I was wary of (Gary) Roberts' (disallowed) goal (in the first half) whether that was offside. Some decisions go for you and some go against you. Today we didn't get the decisions go for us

ON FACING BRENTFORD
In the end you've got to beat two teams to get to the Championship. All four teams are good teams. Brentford will be disappointed to finish third. We're disappointed to finish sixth. I'm more worried about how we played (today). We've got to tidy everything up all over the pitch and come out fighting on Saturday evening. It's going to be a difficult game for them as well as us.

ON PLAYING THE HOME PLAY-OFF LEG FIRST
A home tie would have been nice but the nature of the Play-Offs is that the first game is usually tight then the second game almost becomes a one-off game. We need to try and get up for the both games and get as many players back for next weekend and we'll go from there.
