KM: Come out fighting

13 April 2013

TOWN manager Kevin MacDonald spoke to the media after Swindon's 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United.

ON THE DEFEAT
Was a bit embarrassing in the first half. I'd like to apologise to the supporters - they don't deserve that. In the second half we had a go but we were beaten by the better side. The players have got to look at themselves and come out fighting on Tuesday. In the first half they came out of the traps and we didn't match their intensity all over the pitch. We could have been five or six down with the chances they had and we've got to look at that. We came out better in the second half.

ON THE PERFORMANCE
It's not just the defence. It's a team thing that we need to sort out to get a result on Tuesday. There were a few choice words at half time but the crosses weren't good enough, the set pieces were not good enough. It was a bad day at the office and there have been too many of them recently. One positive was Mark Francis who did very well. I changed the formation with the bodies we had and to try and win the game.

ON TUESDAY NIGHT
There can't be too many changes (in personnel). We've got to get on with it with the players we have. If we win all three games you never know: everyone is beating one another. We have to get our heads down and work harder and hope we get the right result.
