Cooper - We Kept Going

6 August 2013

CARETAKER Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the waiting media after Town's 1-0 win over Torquay United.

ON THE RESULT
I didn’t think it was going to happen with the chances we missed. I was pleased with the way we kept going. We had a rocky spell before half time but we got through it and dominated the second half. I think we deserved to win by more than one goal.

ON THE PERFORMANCE
It felt like it was going to be one of those night but we kept going and scored a decent goal and managed to see it out. At half time I told them don’t get obsessed with playing football 100% of the time. thought we did it second half.

ON THE PENALTY
We’ve got many technical players but Alex Pritchard was the nominated penalty taker. He took about ten yesterday morning and put them in the other corner but fair play he kept going.

ON THE TOWN STRIKE FORCE
Miles Storey added a bit of zip and zest and wanted to threaten their goal. He looked lively. I thought Andy Williams was going to score again but he hit the post. He’s off and running - if he keeps playing in this team then he’ll get plenty of chances.

ON SQUAD ROTATION
We’ve had players that have not had enough pre-season games. We’re conscious and making sure they didn’t play too much football so we didn’t have to make too many changes.
