Cooper: A good result

27 August 2013

TOWN boss Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Swindon's 2-0 victory over QPR.

On the result...
It’s a good result for the club. In the first half we were the better team. We dominated,  passed the ball and went  1-0 up. Then we got what we expected from what was a Premiership team. They came at us and we stood up to it. We were a bit sloppy in the second half but the players kept their shape, stood up, threw bodies in the way and got the breakaway goal at the end.

On the defensive performance...
Wardy at the back marshaled the defence fantastically well. It was all stuff we worked on: we know we would have to defend for long spells and we did fantastically. When you score you know they’re going to come at you. We had to batten down the hatches. I was frustrated that we gave the ball away so easily but we always had that threat on the break.

On Nile Ranger's goal...
It’s fantastic for him. I thought he was outstanding on Saturday. He’s not played for months and to play like he did he’ll be a real asset to this football club. He’s a handful, he’s big, he’s mobile and he can play football. It all helps bit of confidence fans have taken to him.
