MANAGER Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Town’s 5-0 win over Crewe at SN1.
On the performance…
We were excellent from start to finish. In the first 10/15 minutes we were feeling our way but in the second half that players, staff and supporters were fantastic. Hopefully we can continue to win people over. People are really starting to talk about the players. The most pleasing thing is that things we work on in training are coming to fruition. The whole squad want more answers and more ideas. They were fantastic. It’s all about the movement getting people running off the ball. That’s the key - from start to finish they were really top drawer. I can’t give them enough compliments today they were fantastic.
On Ryan Mason’s hat-trick…
Not bad is it? He is a fantastic player and we’ve not had him fit yet. He came towards the end of pre-season. We’re still trying to find his fitness but he’s nearly there.
On Nile Ranger…
The biggest compliment you can give a centre forward but is that you don’t want to play against him and I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to play against him today. The two centre halves never had a minute today. He makes space for other players.
On debutant Nicky Ajose…
He’s quick, he’s got good movement and he’s always a threat on the opposition goal. He’ll get plenty of opportunities to score goals.
