Cooper: We were well beaten

17 August 2013

CARETAKER Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury.

On the result
We were well beaten today and sometimes when it's not going to be your day in terms of football, you have to learn to grind things out and roll your sleeves up. We lost too many personal battles today.

On lessons learnt
We're not going to panic we'll stick to what we believe in. We need to pass quicker and be more of a threat in the final third. Shrewsbury's strikers were a handful today but we didn't carry much of a threat. We've got to look at the DVD and work out what went wrong.

On the performance
We're trying to do things differently and needed to show a bit of urgency today. It was like a charity game - I could have played in that today. We've put in three very good performances. I thought we started the second half well but we didn't create enough pressure to ask them enough questions.

On goals conceded
We will get caught but we've still got to defend. (For the second goal) one of our defenders got bullied off the ball and made it easy for the striker.
