Cup Preview: Torquay

6 August 2013

TOWN welcome League Two side Torquay United to The County Ground for the Capital One Cup first round clash at The County Ground.

After defeat at London Road on Saturday, Swindon are back at The County Ground as they start their first competitive fixture of the campaign.

THE VIEW

Caretaker Manager Mark Cooper has urged his players to pick up where they left off against Peterborough when the face the Gulls this evening.

“It’s another game we need to put on another performance and if we keep producing performances like we did on Saturday then some results will come,” he said.

“Torquay have signed one or two players that might not be fit yet but could figure. Alan Knill’s teams always play good football so it will be a good test for us.”

LAST TIME OUT

Alan Knill’s side rescued a point at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. Defender Aaron Downes notched the equaliser in the 90th minute after the Gulls had fallen behind two minutes earlier.

PAST ENCOUNTERS

The last time the Devon side were in Wiltshire, goals from Alan Connell and Oliver Risser secured a 2-0 win for Town as they marched a step closer to the League Two title. Torquay’s last win at SN1 was back in 1984 when they claimed a 3-1 win.
