SWINDON Town are delighted to announce that skipper Darren Ward has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal at The County Ground putting an end to speculation over his future.
Ward was brought to SN1 last summer initially on loan before signing a permanent contract in January and is closing in on a half-century of appearances for the Town.
The 34 year-old’s new deal will see him stay in Wiltshire until the end of the 2014/15 season.
Speaking to STFC Player shortly afterwards, the defender was pleased to have extended his stay.
“I’m delighted to have signed,” he said. “It’s been going on for a while and we’ve been quite relaxed about it.
“It’s been common knowledge that other club were interested but under the circumstances and how happy I find myself here, I want to stay and I’m glad to have signed.”
A full interview with the skipper will shortly be online for STFC Player subscribers.
