Cooper: We opened the game

26 December 2013

TOWN Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after defeat at Brentford on Boxing Day.

On the result...
After Sheffield United it was made plain that people wanted to see us attack and we opened the game today. It could have been 5-4 but when you do that, you run the risk of conceding goals. Our Achilles heel has been defending goals. It was schoolboy defending after winning the game twice but we move onto the next one (at Bradford). There are ups and downs, the fans at Sheffield United made it clear what they wanted and we gave them that. We played well in spells and we had another fantastic following.

On the performance...
We looked at any time in the first half like we could carve them open. We played 4-4-2 today. I thought we played some really good football. The way we are at the minute will continue because of the youthfullness of the squad.

On the opposition...
They're having a real go at promotion in terms of budget. They've got players who have won promotions before and the majority are experienced players. They are where they are because they're a good team.

On the goals...
(For the first goal) It was good football and a good finish. The second one is a deflection and Ajose finishes it. At 2-1 we maybe should have gone on to win the game.
