TOWN Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Swindon’s JPT win over Stevenage.
On the result…
We made it a lot harder than it should have been. We got a bit sloppy and couldn’t get the tempo back after that. It shows the players if you let it go you can’t turn it on like a tap. Once you lose the tempo it’s difficult to get it back. Fair play to Stevenage but we could have easily killed it off.
On the performance…
In the first 30 minutes we played some unbelievably good football then we made it tougher than it should have been. We worked a lot of defending and attacking corners so we played everything short and in the first half we looked dangerous from corners but defended them well.
On the penalty shoot-out…
We didn’t practise penalties. It’s impossible to create that pressure. I picked five players and told them to put their foot through it. Ty saved it. He’s done well again and feels he could have done better with the goal. He’s done well and I hope he does well in the final.
On the Area Final…
It sets up a massive game. It will be a big crowd here and at London Road. We had a close game on the opening day of the season and hopefully it’s our turn to come out on top over two legs.
