Corsham win charity contest

13 February 2013

SWINDON Town's Under-18's lost out 2-1 to a Corsham Town Select XI in a charity match on Tuesday evening.

The game was played to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association with all proceeds from the night going to the charity.

The Robins fielded a youth team with the exception of Samsung 'Win a Pro' winner Chris Smith who was included. Aaron Oakley and Louis Thompson did not feature.

Paul Bodin saw his side go into the break a goal down before Connor Waldon struck a superb volley on 65 minutes to draw level. The Select XI struck the winner on 89 minutes through frontman Alan Griffin.

Under 18s manager Paul Bodin offered his views after the encounter. He said: “It was a full blooded game with the Corsham side full of players from a higher level.

"Scott Griffin, with Chippenham, got the winner and it was a very good exercise for a worthy cause."
