Going 'over the water'

18 February 2013

JAY McEveley believes that Tranmere will be raring to go when the two sides face each other on Tuesday, despite recording three defeats in their last three outings.

Following Swindon’s ten-day break from fixtures, the defender says that tomorrow's match will present a good opportunity for Town to keep their recent momentum going.

He said: “They’re not on the greatest of runs at the minute but after what we did to them when they came down here we know they’ll be right up for the game. Any form they had will probably go out the window and it will be a tough game.

“The break has been good. It’s been a good opportunity to regroup and go over the disappointment of last Saturday (against Hartlepool) and put it behind us.

“Looking at the table the results over the weekend have gone our way so hopefully we can go there tomorrow, get a result and keep ourselves in that race.”

A native of the north-west, McEveley revealed that friends and family would be in the stands cheering him on as he makes his first ever appearance at Prenton Park.

“I’ve never played at Tranmere before so this is going to be my first time,” he said. “I’ll have friends coming over because we’re on the other side of the water - the good side of the water!

“I’m sure Gary (Roberts) and Alan (Navarro) will as well so with me having a few people coming across to watch it will be a good game.”
