On the result…
We knew it would be a tough game but we started very well. I felt we were the better team but then we got a bit sloppy. We started the second half well but then we were a little stretched. At the end of the game there looked like there would only be one winner.
On Adam Rooney…
Great composure to put it in the corner and he capitalised on the mistake. It was a perfectly timed substitution. We spoke beforehand about the various scenarios that could happen and it was a joint decision to make the change. We made the decision as the game was going on and it was superb to see Roons get the goal.
On managing and playing…
We did a lot of preparation on Friday and we did a lot of work. There were various items on the agenda today but I have to say thanks to Jamie Pitman as well who helped us out today with some great advice. Wardy and I will continue to share the duties and we will continue doing so for as long as we are required. We are delighted with how the lads responded and we have to thank them for that.
On the future…
We have been worked hard up until now and that’s going to continue. We are up at the top of the league for a reason and that’s got to continue going forward. We have Bury on Tuesday and we will be in for training on Sunday and see how things go. A few of the lads have knocks. Simon Ferry had to come off at Tranmere and he was suffering again this afternoon.
