PDC: An opportunity lost

9 February 2013

On the draw…

I am not happy. It is obvious but we dominated the game, but that proves that we don’t have a natural goalscorer. That has been a problem since the beginning. Today is another game where we have regret, but what we have done so far is a miracle.

On the performance…

In terms of the performance I am not happy completely but there wasn’t the same desire or fire. Some of the lads are very inexperienced, they have done an amazing job until today, but we don’t have the experience we need.

On chances…

We now have to accept what we have to do and there are many games to go. We were punished heavily but we should have scored more goals. Their goalkeeper made some good saves but we missed opportunities. We haven’t scored dirty goals and we need a nasty attitude.

On Ferry’s goal…

Hartlepool play with a player in the middle who couldn’t cover all the space so we knew there would be space. We prepared exactly for that and took the opportunity well. Simon Ferry we know him and he will always give his best.

On the future…

We have to look forward and behave like professionals. The players have to feel hurt because they were the protagonists of not an important jump today. After three away games like we have we have paid the price. Today says we are not ready for the top. Maybe we need to play less tippy-tappy and win ugly. A 1-0 win today would have been fantastic, but we have lost an opportunity today.

On fans’ support…

The support from the fans was special and I would like to thank them. They appreciate the job I have done and that I will always work for the cause.
