SWINDON Town’s pitch has been undercover since Saturday as the club look to ensure this weekend’s home game against Shrewsbury Town gets the go ahead.

With freezing temperatures sweeping across the country once again, the club have taken the necessary steps to prevent another postponement this weekend.

The playing surface was fully covered last Saturday and will remain protected until the morning of the game – with the covers keeping out the cold until -5.

Stadium & Operations Manager, Mark Isaacs, commented: “The club have been pro-active in ensuring that the game against Shrewsbury is given every chance of going ahead. We have been looking at short and long-term weather forecasts and we are well prepared for any eventuality.

“The club has invested over the last few years in pitch protection and every effort is being made to make sure there is League One action at The County Ground this Saturday.”

Town are anticipating another big crowd for the visit of the Shrews and fans are advised to buy tickets early to secure the best available seats. Call 0871 876 1993, buy online here or visit the STFC Box Office in person.
