Ladies Into Round Three

8 January 2013

SWINDON Town Ladies have been drawn at home to Gillingham LFC in the Third Round Proper of the Women's FA Cup after knocking out Exeter City in Round Two.

The tie is due to be played on Sunday 3rd February at Cinder Lane, Fairford. Kick off is at 2pm and entry is free.

A fine performance at the Devon FA headquarters in Newton Abbott against Exeter saw the club progress to the Third Round for only the second time in its history.

Swindon went a goal up after only three minutes. Kirsty Shell crossed for Abby Picton to finish with a great header. Exeter equalised ten minutes later.

At the start of the second half Swindon started slowly and went 2-1 down, the goal seemingly waking STLFC from their slumber. They started to play football again and were rewarded with another goal from Abby Picton.

Swindon continued to press and scored again with seven minutes to go. Abby Picton notched her hat-trick to make the final score 3-2 to STLFC.
