TOWN manager Paolo Di Canio has stated that this weekend’s game at AFC Bournemouth is ‘an important crossroads’ for his side.
The Robins head to The Goldsands Stadium looking to end the home side’s impressive unbeaten run. The Cherries have not tasted defeat since Eddie Howe’s return to the club in mid-October.
Di Canio said: “This will be one of the most important crossroads of the season. If we beat them then the job is not done completely, but it will help us build something really important.
“If we can win the game on Saturday then that would be an amazing lift for everybody. Even a draw would be good, but we will go there to try and win. More than three points are at stake this weekend.
“Bournemouth look like us last season – they have very high confidence and have been on a fantastic run. You can see the manager’s hand in their play and they use very well the wide areas too.
“If we play with the determination that we have done over the past few games then maybe we can be the first team for a few weeks to hurt them.”
Di Canio is anticipating a close encounter this weekend and knows the opening exchanges will once again be key to the outcome.
“We are going there to win and I have told my players what we expect. We have to be solid and maintain our defensive solidity.
“Mentally and physically we are in a good moment. My players will have all the information they need tactically.
“The first 20 minutes will be key; this is a game we are very much looking forward to.”
