Ward - A Real Battle

14 January 2013

DARREN Ward described Saturday’s 1-1 draw at AFC Bournemouth as ‘a proper game of football’ as the Robins battled back to take a point.

Town went a goal down in the first half with Harry Arter’s strike putting the hosts in front at the break before a late goal from Andy Williams secured a point.

Ward played his part in the encounter – even putting head to boot in the first half in a bid to keep the hosts at bay.

“The conditions were very difficult but we battled through and that was a proper game wasn’t it,” he said.

“We had to grind out a result but we had some good chances. I threw myself in front of everything and the lads really dug in.

“It was very difficult to clear the ball at times but it’s a big point. We are still unbeaten over the last few and we should have won the game today.

“It shows how far we have come and we can now look forward to Shrewsbury back at The County Ground this weekend.”
