The stopper was with the club as a youth team player before a move to Premier League side Liverpool in April 2010.
He spent the second half of last term gaining experience at Welsh side Airbus UK Broughton, but was released by the Anfield club at the end of last season and has returned to the Robins on trial.
“Jamie is here for a few days and we will have a look at him,” said Town boss Kevin MacDonald.
“He did very well on Monday, which was his first day back, but we will see what he can do and then go from there.
“He has been recommended to us and I know he was Swindon a few years back. There’s not a lot more we can say at the moment but we will see what happens.”
He added: “At the moment we are trying to get the players we have here as fit as we can whilst also taking a look at the trialists that have been recommended to the club.”
