The Tour Diaries: Mark Cooper

24 July 2013

TOWN caretaker manager Mark Cooper sat down with swindontownfc.co.uk this morning to discuss how things have been going at their training camp in Portugal...

It’s been a fantastic experience in terms of getting players together and away from any distractions. The facilities are really good and everyone is enjoying it so far. The training has been good and everyone has got on and that’s a big part of it especially when you’ve got a few new lads and you’re trying to get them integrated into the group.

When new players come in you’re always wary of how they’re going to fit into the group and I think so far so good. Things will only get better.

It is a young squad so the ones that have been here for a while have helped in terms of integrating the new lads into how we do things. They’ve all taken to it but they’ve all come from decent clubs so they know what being a professional is all about. It’s been ideal getting them away and getting them together. Every day that we train we can see the hard work bearing fruit.

As usual, there is plenty of banter flying about when you’re around a first team and I’m looking forward to watching a couple of the boys swimming this morning in the sea. Apparently one or two can’t swim so we’re trying to get some rubber rings and armbands for the recovery session having had a really tough day yesterday.
