KM on pre-season

25 June 2013

SWINDON Town manager Kevin MacDonald will run the rule over Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jack Barthram this week with Aston Villa defender Daniel Devine also a target.

The Town boss oversaw the first day of pre-season training on Monday morning and there were several trialists amongst the group.

And Barthram, who has been a regular with Tottenham Hotspur’s development side in recent seasons, was one of those who will be hoping to catch the eye.

MacDonald said: “Jack has come into training and we will have a good look at him.

“He has been recommended to us by quite a few people and he will train with the squad this week.

“We have a game at Swindon Supermarine next Tuesday, which is quite early into pre-season, and some of the trialists may feature there.”

Paul Benson and Paul Caddis have also returned to The County Ground following loan spells away from Wiltshire last season.

“They are with the squad as Swindon Town players,” said MacDonald. “Paul Caddis is a very good footballer and had a very good spell with Birmingham City.

“Paul Benson had a few loan spells away but he’s back with us now and is a part of the squad.”

Aston Villa youngster Daniel Devine remains a target for the Town manager, who hopes to bring the Dublin-born defender to Wiltshire.

“Daniel Devine is away on holiday at the moment but hopefully we can get him into training so we can have a good look at him.

“I know a lot about him from my time at Aston Villa and we had him in on trial towards the end of last season.”
