Ladies Appoint New Manager

22 June 2013

SWINDON Town Ladies FC have appointed Football in the Community coach Jason Brizell as their new first team manager.

Following a number of meetings with Swindon Town FC and the Swindon Town Ladies committee, running of the side has been brought under the STFC Football in the Community Trust banner.

Brizell, 41, has been an STFC Football in the Community Trust coach for three years and is looking forward to stepping up to managing the Ladies’ first team.

He said: “I am very pleased to have been offered the job and it’s a big opportunity.

“I have been a part of the girls’ development programme right from the beginning. The standard is fantastic and having linked up the FITC girls’ programme with STFC Ladies, the future looks extremely bright. There are some very talented players in the system.

“We would welcome new players and can offer a safe environment for the girls to play in. We want to have a better link with the community, so if there are any girls out there that would like to come and play for Swindon Town FC Ladies then please get in contact.

Martin Wheeler, Chairman of Swindon Town Ladies, is looking forward to the new partnership.

“It is a very exciting venture going into our 20th anniversary season. We are extremely excited and looking forward to the future. Swindon Town Ladies are now very much part of the club. Hopefully we can build towards a bigger future and we are looking to recruit more girls and ladies, giving them the opportunity to play football for STFC.”

Clive Maguire, STFC FITC Trust joint manager, added: “We are delighted that we have now forged this partnership that has become the final piece in the jigsaw regarding our girls’ development programme.

“It is our ambition to take the Swindon Town Ladies team as high as we possibly can. Having met the players we are optimistic about the future and feel we can make a real difference to them as a group of players.

“We believe we have appointed the right man in Jason, whose professional and personal standards will add to the set-up. He is extremely excited about working with the players, whose pre-season training begins on Tuesday 2nd July at 6.30pm at Croft.”
