Stepping up

28 June 2013

LOUIS Thompson is relishing being a part of the Town first team squad having made the step up to the senior ranks.

The midfielder made his Town debut whilst still a first year scholar, but fast-forward a year and a half – he is now entering his first season as a fully-fledged professional.

“It’s been tough and harder than the first three days of last year actually,” he said.

“The lads on trial have all got on well with everyone and it’s been a good first few days of training.

“It’s nice to see a few familiar faces and we are all looking forward to the new season.

“I want to try and impress the gaffer as much as I can and play as many first team games as possible.”

Thompson, the younger brother of Nathan, is hoping to make an impact this season alongside a host of other first-year professionals.

“There is a young base to the squad this season which reflects well on the youth set-up here. We have a few really experienced heads around too with Cadds, Benno and Navs.

“The manager has been great and that fills you with confidence. We know he is not afraid to give players a go, despite their age, so it makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
