Push on now

20 March 2013

NATHAN Thompson says that Town displayed their resilient character at Yeovil on Tuesday evening as they ran out 2-0 winners at Huish Park.

One of the stand-out performers against the Glovers, the full-back wants Town to push on from the platform they have engineered for themselves.

“After Tuesday (and defeat at Brentford) we needed a big performance so to get the three points and to push up there is great,” he told the media after the match.

“We didn’t play our best but showed our dogged side. We’ve been brittle recently and that’s not like us so a clean sheet was important.

“We can push on now so we need a massive performance for these last eight games. Whenever we’ve played the big teams we’ve put in a good performance and we’ve showed that again tonight.”

After picking up another yellow card, Thompson reflected on his performance before saluting the travelling faithful

“Sometimes you get a bit of a reputation so I’ll be keeping my tackles a bit calmer and not so rash,” he continued.

“The fans have been fantastic - they’ve been here all season in numbers. It’s such an important 3 points.”
