Thompson: 'Tuesday will be massive'

9 March 2013

NATHAN Thompson has labelled Tuesday night’s trip to Brentford as ‘massive’ after playing his part in a 2-2 home draw with Walsall on Saturday afternoon.

The defender was forced off with a knee injury late on in the draw with the Saddlers, but offered his post-match views after what was a late sucker punch as the visitors twice came from behind to take a share of the spoils.

Thompson said: “We battled right to the last minute and I think we deserved the win today. Our defensive record has been very good yet we conceded two goals for the first time in the league for a long time. It hurts because we have been brilliant at the back.

“In terms of the result it’s hard to pinpoint where things didn’t go for us. We will be in on Sunday morning and then in full training on Monday morning to prepare for Brentford. That is a massive game and the lads are really looking forward to it.”

Speaking of his injury, the defender said: “I jumped up for a header and I took a knock across my kneecap but will see how it is in the morning.”
