TOWN boss Kevin MacDonald has offered his thanks to the squad after a rollercoaster season at The County Ground.
MacDonald took over as manager in March and helped guide the Robins to a Play-Off place. Speaking to STFC Player on Thursday lunchtime, the Scot expressed his thanks to the playing staff.
He said: “First of all I must offer my thanks to all the players for their contribution during the season. They have done fantastically well for this football club.
“It is a shame the season ended on Monday, although the work they have put in during the season, under myself and the previous manager, has been fantastic. I would like to offer my thanks to them all once again.”
MacDonald confirmed the news of five players leaving The County Ground, although admitted that a much-changed financial profile will shape the look of the Town squad.
“A lot of the decisions were down to finances. The club now has to run on a much tighter budget. The players who have been released are good players but I hope they get fixed up with a new club quickly.
“What we will have to do is make sure the club stays sound football wise and financially, whilst remaining as competitive as we can be.”
