Ladies win county cup

8 May 2013

SWINDON Town Ladies have won the County Cup for the third year in a row beating Swindon Spitfires 3-0.

The Ladies took the game to Swindon Spitfires straight from the kick off, creating chance after chance. They were rewarded with a superb strike from Lisa Coe to make it 1-0. This was how it stayed until the break with Town still creating chances and, had it not been for Spits goalkeeper Tamsin Kellett, it would have been a lot more.

The second half started as they had done in the first half with Swindon Town Ladies on the front foot and playing all the football. A great corner from Catherine Reid was converted by Kim Reeves who headed home to double Town’s advantage. The Ladies still created chances with the Spits goalkeeper continuing to make save after save.

STLFC capped their performance with a third goal. A good through ball by Abby Picton found Laura Morgan who finished to make the final score 3-0, confirming Swindon Town Ladies FC as Womens’ County Champions 2012/13.

Manager Glyn Evans was very pleased to have won the County Cup for the third year running under his stewardship.

Swindon Town Ladies will now look forward to playing this Sunday in the League Cup Final against Keynsham at Cirencester Town FC. Kick-off is at 2pm.
