Pro Contract Documentary

1 May 2013

SAMSUNG'S Win A Pro Contract competition with Swindon Town is the subject of a three-part documentary on Sky Sports this week.

The nationwide competition, which offers amateur footballers the chance to win a one-year professional contract with Town and fellow League One club Leyton Orient, has just completed its third season.

More than 5,000 players entered between May and August last year in a bid to sign for either Swindon or Orient, with 19 year old Kayden Jackson earning a place in Kevin MacDonald’s squad for next season.

The mini-series, entitled ‘Pro Contract – The Football Dream’, will cover this season’s competition from start to finish, including trial matches, interviews with players and managers and the highs and lows from behind-the-scenes.

TV production company Pergall Media, led by award-winning broadcast journalist Andy Steggall, produced the mini-series for Sky Sports.

Steggall said: “We were thrilled to get the chance to work with Samsung, Swindon Town and Leyton Orient on this season’s Win A Pro Contract.

“The competition offers amateur players the chance to live the dream of becoming a professional footballer. It’s an amazing journey and we’ve documented all aspects of it.

“Sky Sports viewers will get an in-depth look at what it takes to earn a playing contract at a Football League club – and the personal stories behind it.”
