Cooper: Not at our best

23 November 2013

TOWN Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Swindon’s defeat to Leyton Orient.

On the result…
We conceded from the 1st goal and that was criminal. After a cagey opening we scored and then conceded from the kick-off and that is a cardinal sin - that can’t happen. That put us on the back foot. We didn’t defend well today as a team. We keep working but keep conceding so something’s got to change.

On goals conceded…
Nathan (Thompson) went to sleep a bit and Wes was out of position a bit and the guy’s lobbed him. We didn’t play particularly well in an attacking sense. Disappointed today - as a team we weren’t at our best today and Orient didn’t have to do a lot to beat us. The goals we conceded were too easy.

On the defensive display…
We either change players or we keep working  and try and make the defensive unit better. Jay (McEveley) gets frustrated because he tries to win and he didn’t want to let them score another goal. He knows he shouldn’t have made another tackle when he was on a yellow card.

On the second half…
We brought Mo (Elgabas) on and after the third goal we had a bit of a spark. With one or two decisions the other way it might have been different. At 2-1 we had 45 minutes to play but the third goal makes it a hell of task.
