Cooper: not good enough

9 November 2013

TOWN manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Swindon’s FA Cup defeat at Macclesfield.

On the result…
We have to digest it and we have to try and be constructive. They’re a group of young players but they’ve got to start taking responsibility and stop hiding behind themselves because it’s happened too many times. Full credit to Macclesfield, they deserved to win the game. We had a spell after half time but the goals we conceded were ridiculously poor and if you concede like that you’ll get beat. Apologies to the supporters who were here that wasn’t good enough the supporters know things will have to change away from home.

On the result…
It’s happened too many times we can’t be Barcelona one week and everyone jumping up and down to today. We have to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We’re lucky we have a game on Tuesday to put it right. You can talk about tactics or shape or whatever you want but if you don’t apply yourself individually and collectively you won’t win matches. The best players are the ones that week in week out are 7 or 8 out of ten.
