Swindon Town Girls CFFE

6 November 2013

SWINDON Town‘s Girls CFFE took on Portsmouth and Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend with the reds keen to make an impression at the highest level of girls' football.

Town's girls did not disappoint with every team from under-10s to under-16s defeating the team from the South Coast and, more significantly, wins for the under-11s ,12s and 13s against their illustrious opponents from North London.

The performances delighted Shane Hewlett who oversees the Girls' CFFE for the Swindon Town FITC Trust: ”This goes to show that if you work hard and have the right attitude, you can achieve your goals. Three years ago we could not compete with the likes of Spurs and Reading but now feel that we are at the right level to not only compete but to establish Swindon Town as one of the most talented teams in the country.”

Town's under-11s defeated Spurs 1-0 with Honor Fraser scoring the winner whilst Town's under-12s won 8-7 on penalties with Lucy Scrannage scoring the decisive spot-kick. The under-13s completed the hat-trick of wins with a fine 2-0 victory.

The FITC Trust would also like to thank the main Girls' Sponsors Verelogic and Trak for their continued support of the girls programme in 2013-2014. This support is valuable to the development of the Girls Programme and we would like personally thank Carl McCulloch and James Richards of Trak Employment and Kevin Metcalfe from Verelogic.

FITC would also like to thank Ashley Cain from ATC Property Management for supporting and attending our tournamant on Friday. He said: ”Having seen the excellent work that STFITC do for the community of Swindon, ATC Property Management were delighted to offer a small donation to help the team continue their great work.” For full results of each age group then please see below:
