JACK Barthram rated his performance against Plymouth as one of the best of his career as he helped Swindon to a 2-1 victory.
The full-back scored Town’s opener at SN1 and revealed that the change in formation afforded him the flexibility to get forward.
“It’s up there with one of my best performances,” he said. “Obviously scoring a goal, it was my best performance in a Swindon shirt by far.
“The formation we played tonight allowed me and Nathan Byrne to push on so the gaffer told us to bomb on. He said that if I kept making the runs I would score and I did.”
Barthram went on to reflect on the first senior goal of his career.
“It was a bit scary because I thought the ‘keeper would come and clatter me but he didn’t and it was a free header. I nearly scored again but hit the crossbar - I thought it was in.”
“It was a good performance from the team. I’m happy to get my first league goal and start.”
