Cooper: We ground it out

5 October 2013

TOWN Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Swindon's 1-0 win over Tranmere.

On the result...
We have to get used to the fact that teams will get everybody behind the ball. I thought we dominated the football for the first 45 minutes and we scored a goal. If we get a second it gets a lot more comfortable. At half time they change and try and press us and we didn't recognise the space in behind and were still a bit too predictable. I asked for a clean sheet today and they've done that and won the game. It's difficult when teams put everybody behind the ball. It gets tense but we had numerous chances to kill the game off.

On the performance...
Three weeks ago I was sat at Wolves and everyone was buzzing with the performance but we got beat. Tonight, it says we have 3 points after today's game. I'm not disappointed because its difficult. You have to concentrate - one slip gives them a chance but we tried to play. Our passing wasn't as crisp as it can be but we ground it out.

On Dany N'Guessan's penalty...
He took a few yesterday and missed all of them (laughs) but it was a good penalty. we're not bothered who scores

On Injuries...
We're having to get players back fit through playing which isn't ideal. Ranger was a gamble but it's paid off and we've won the game.

On Jay McEveley...
Jay McEveley was outstanding today. It shows his character and after last week I'm delighted for him.
