Cooper: We were controlled

18 October 2013

TOWN Boss Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Swindon’s 2-0 win over Notts County at SN1.

On the second half display…
2-0 is a horrible scoreline. It was a very risky - if they score it becomes interesting. We had that much possession and chances to kill the game but we just had a nervous spell.

On the performance…
We played very well. We were controlled, passed the football well and for a purpose and dealt with a Notts side that have come into a bit of form. We’ve done well recently. It’s frustrating that we didn’t finish it off. For the possession we had we should have been more in control. They score the penalty and it’s game on - we have to makes sure we don’t mistakes like that. We controlled the first half and were two goals to the good. Obviously second half we went out and controlled again. We needed to score and with that scoreline it was natural that it became a bit tense.

On the players…
They were all very good tonight. We don’t pick individuals - we have to keep the young players focused.

On Nathan Thompson…
Nathan is ill he was struggling before with sickness but he soldiered on. Jack Barthram came on and did really well again it’s another 45 minutes under his belt.
