Williams: We weren't at it

22 October 2013

LUKE Williams spoke to the media after Town’s 3-1 home defeat to Walsall.

On the performance…
It was lacklustre. I also think we lost control and we didn’t manage to gain a foothold in the game. We weren’t at it. We looked lethargic and unable to keep the ball and impose ourselves. There were a few (players) that underperformed.

On the opposition’s performance…
We didn’t expect it to be honest. A lot of credit to Walsall they watched us and their manager was here on Friday night. They worked extremely hard, had a game plan and we were unable to impose ourselves.

On the substitutions…
We sacrificed a defender for an attacker to be more aggressive and that probably cost us. We wanted to change and be aggressive in hindsight it made it more difficult.

On starts to games…
Early on in any game teams are fresh and will always create an opportunity being positive. We’ve seen in recent weeks if we weather that, our style of play grows and we get control and dominate the ball. We weren’t able to do that tonight.
