Delighted with the performance

14 September 2013

MANAGER Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Swindon’s 3-2 defeat at Wolves.

On the defeat…
Delighted with the performance. I feel sorry for the players because they totally bossed it. I thought we totally outfootballed them and deserved to win the game. I told them after the game that if they can guarantee that commitment and desire and if they keep performing they’ll get results.

On goals conceded…
It wasn’t a great start we shouldn’t been conceding goals like that. We missed chance after chance then they score a second and it was too easy. The only criticism I have is that we are conceding too many soft goals. That’s why Kevin Doyle gets paid a ridiculous amount - he gets one chance and scores. If you get one chance you’ve got to take it but I can’t fault them today. They’re still learning and they will make mistakes but they’re getting it.

On the performance…
The way we played to create those chances and the reaction of home fans shows you that they appreciate what a good football side we were. If we can play like that next week we’ll win 10-0 but that’s the game that everyone loves. I wish we were playing tomorrow after that. We’ve got to keep reinforcing the positives.

On Dany N’Guessan…
When subs come on they have to affect the game and he did that. I felt we needed to score ten minutes earlier and I was convinced we’d win the game. You could only see us getting an equaliser then they catch us on the break a bit too easily and everyone thinks game over then Ryan Mason hits a spectacular effort. It was a fantastic performance.

On Ryan Mason’s goal…
They’ve all got ability to do that but to score today against their ‘keeper is outstanding.
