Tour Diary: Day One

8 April 2014

ACADEMY Manager, Jeremy Newton, files his first tour diary from the Netherlands.

The Holland tour has kicked-off with the Under-10s to the Under-12s making the trip to their base in Utrecht for a week away for training and games, along with a tournament on Wednesday.

It's a huge week for all the players to increase there Four Corner Development Programe which covers their technical, tactical, social, and physiological elements. These will all be tested, challenged, and will improve by the end of the week and the players will then take it what they have learned to the next stage of their development.

The teams kicked off their games against De Graafschap and all three teams came away with very good performances. Our teams were just too strong for the home side, which was a good platform for us, and we will train on Tuesday morning before leaving for our next team, Excelsior Rotterdam.

I would like to give special praise for the coaches: Matthew Ashman for the Under-10s, Adam Coombes for the Under-11s and Levi Irving for the Under-12s.
